Not Your Average John Grisham Novel

Ford County is not your typical John Grisham novel, but it may be his best. Grisham returns to the setting of his debut novel  A Time to Kill in a series of tales about the inhabitants of Ford County, Mississippi. The stories paint an interesting picture of the rural South. Gambling, extortion, lying lawyers, the death sentence and more are all touched upon by the stories.

One of my favorites was "Casino." A normal guy finds his true calling and surprises everyone, including his wife who left him because he was boring. Grisham wraps the small story up well and in the end everyone gets what they deserve. And really, isn't that how its supposed to be?

Another story in the book involves a scheming gentleman that takes advantage of older people. The cast of characters in this book are definitely intriguing and corrupt.

Ford County is definitely worth a stop.
